The debugging experience with the GNOME ecosystem repeatedly resulted in situations of "nothing happened (but something should've), and now I have no idea why". Likewise, attempting to set up translations repeatedly resulted in "it just doesn't load the translation", and I had no idea what step in the build process I had missed.
